Community High School District 155 is looking for Campus Safety Supervisors for each campus, beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.  This position follows 2023-2028 CHESS Negotiation Agreement and is the IMRF-eligible.  Please review general job description below.

  

REPORTS TO: Dean of Students

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 10 months; 190 days; 8 hours per day

SALARY LANE: Level 1 Campus Safety

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Campus Safety Supervisor at Community High School District 155 (CHSD155) will play a critical role in ensuring a secure and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. The Camus Safety Supervisor will be responsible for implementing and enforcing safety protocols, conducting regular security patrols, and responding to emergency situations.

 

DUTIES:

Security Monitoring

  • Conduct regular patrols of the campus to monitor and address potential security concerns or unauthorized activities.
  • Utilize surveillance systems to ensure the safety and well-being of the school community.

Emergency Response

  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, including medical incidents, security breaches, and other crises.
  • Implement emergency protocols and coordinate with relevant authorities.

Access Control

  • Enforce access control policies, ensuring that only authorized individuals enter school premises.
  • Assist with visitor management and verify credentials.

Incident Reporting

  • Document and report security incidents, providing detailed and accurate information for further investigation.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with school administrators, local law enforcement, and emergency services to enhance overall campus safety.
  • Participate in safety drills and training sessions.

First Aid Support

  • Provide basic first aid assistance when necessary and coordinate with medical professionals in emergencies.

Crisis Communication

  • Assist in the implementation of crisis communication plans, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of information.

Safety Awareness

  • Promote safety awareness among students, staff, and visitors through communication and educational initiatives.

Training Support

  • Support safety training programs for staff and students, including drills and exercises to enhance preparedness.

Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate records of security-related activities, incidents, and drills.

Confidentiality

  • Preserve the confidentiality of sensitive information, including student records, ensuring utmost discretion in all security and emergency response activities to uphold the privacy of individuals within the school community.  
  • Adhere to all FERPA requirements.  

 KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of security protocols and emergency response procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
  • Familiarity with security systems and technology.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to school security.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a security-related role.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is desirable.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with campus safety procedures and best practices.
  • District-provided uniform tops required to be worn.
  • Professional attire and conduct must be demonstrated at all times.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk, see, hear, and type on a computer or device.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, use stairs, or crouch.  In addition, the employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
