Crystal Lake South High School, within Community High School District 155, has an opening for a French teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. We are seeking an individual to teach (preferably) all levels of French (I-IV) and their qualifications must allow for them to teach Dual Credit French III and Dual Credit French IV. Credentials will be evaluated by McHenry County College to determine eligibility to teach those courses.  In addition to teaching at South, this teacher may be required to travel during the day to a sister school to teach 1 or more sections as well.  Please review a general job teacher description below.

 

REPORTS TO: Division Leader/Vice Principal/Principal

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The District 155 Teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere conducive to learning that guides students to attain their full academic potential and where the district’s mission statement can become a reality for the student population.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Illinois Teacher Certification (Type PEL) with required hours in subject area
• Masters Degree in French allowing the teacher to teach Dual Credit French courses
• Ability to work cooperatively with all stakeholders
• Ability and desire to create and carry through effective programs

• Demonstrate the requisite knowledge of the subject matter and its relevance to students
• Identify and articulate rigorous learning targets for their students that align with the current curriculum
• Integrate resources effectively such as texts and technology into their lessons
• Demonstrate an awareness to the students’ level of skill, background knowledge, learning styles and special needs
• Differentiate lessons and assessments to meet student needs

• Create a positive learning environment of mutual respect and trust, conducive to goal setting and taking risks
• Display a positive attitude, employing a variety of motivational techniques ensuring that learning is equitable and accessible for all students
• Enforce rules consistently that are fair and clear, acknowledging positive behavior and appropriately disciplining unacceptable behavior

Instructional Delivery:

• Deliver instruction effectively to students, providing examples to reinforce learning
• Provide students with a rigorous and relevant curriculum
